All things having taken longer than planned, our hive is finally painted and in position waiting for the bees which ought to arrive later this week. Our first hive, a Tanzanian top-bar
This picture is of the front of the hive as it faces South with its many entrance holes plugged with corks. Once the bees are moved in we will remove those two close-together corks in the right hand side. As they fill the hive in the coming years we will remove more corks to allow the foragers access to the rest of the hive without requiring them to traverse its length. During winters we will recork all but the rightmost entrance.
